Motor DW6/21-Ag.
Friday, 07 December 2007

While 2007/2008 indoor season is going at full temp, i have one more great news and one more top product to add to review section. Famous and crazy German pilot Manuel Nubel (Well known Knuffel author and VPP wizard) with help of Mr. Holger Lambertus, create company www.slowflyworld.de that make and sell best electric products for today RC models. Im happy to add Slowflyworld to my sponsor list. And first product i will talk about is new motor DW 6/21-Ag.

New DW 6/21-Ag from www.slowflyworld.de is perfect choise for 2007/2008 indoor season VPP projects.

I pick DW 6/21-Ag since it is lighter than my last year VPP motor DW8/18, and can deliver up to 500g trust with modern 20-30C lypo packs such as Flight Power EVO20 2S 400mah ! According to manufacturers this motor is wound with a silver-wire, that is made especially for it. The electric conductivity of silver is 10% less than of copper, which gives us less resistance and less electric loss.

Same as DW8/18 , (that i bought for last year MVPP plane Arrow), DW 6/21-Ag came nicely packed in plastic pack, with such packing you can be sure you will receive your product in best shape. As you see it include nice fiberglass motor mount and light plastic screws for motor attachment.

Manuel website declare motor weight as 21g, mine is 22.3g, im sure i get this differnse because of long wirres left. Since weight is very important for light indoor planes i probably will shorten wirres and save ~1g.

First thing i notice about Slowflyworld DW motors, is top quality, winnding are made very good, construction of motor looks very good as well, from my experience DW 8-18 can handle pretty big impacts with no damage! Big open areas from both sides of engine, give very good conditions for colling.

Just to compare size, DW 6/21-Ag next to DW8/18 , weight of DW8.18 with short wirres is 25.5g.

New motor can be delivered with a titan-shaft with M3-winding for prop-mounting with almost no extra weight (by using a nut), or with a hollow shaft for mounting inside the fuselage or VPP-use. Naturally i will use it with variable pitch prop, so i ask for hollow shaft version. With new motor i get set of one more top product carbon blades from www.slowflyworld.de

 My 2007/2008 year VPP equipment.

In next few weeks i will build two VPP planes: MVPP Arrow V3 ( Arrow V3 plans with detailed manual will be for sale on 2008 january!!!) and maybe Sultimate XL with front mounted propeller.

Weight of 8 inch carbon blades and plastic T-rex blade-supporter is only 11.2g. Since i use this VP prop in Arrow, where blades and blade-supporter will be mounted in middle of plane and will be protected from impacts, it is safe to use weak plastic parts. For someone that is planning to try VPP flyin with such front mounted prop, i really suggest to use aluminium blade-supporter. Other very good option for beginners what want to fly front mounted prop would be Martin Muler, "Upsidedown" propeller.

Its hard to see here, but these blades are hollow, this make them much lighter than T-rex blade set.

Both blades are really light and weight is only 1.8g each, i don't think i will have any balancing problems.

My 2007/2008 year F3P packs: Evo20 300mah and EvoLite 350mah are perfect packs for F3P, they are capable of 6amp continous and 9amp bursts, but i will not use them for VPP flying, since they are to small, and VPP require more power. Perfect choice for new VPP planes will be pack you see on right side EVO20 400mah that is capable of 8amp continous and  up to 12amp bursts.
