Thursday, 15 November 2007

Tuesday we came back from one of the best indoor F3P competition i ever participate in! Already several year this top competition open indoor season in Europe.  This time only i and my helper Vladimir could come to France, it was long (~1800km one way) trip but sure it was worth to make it!

New equipment starting from DX7 radio with AR6100 rx, Dymon D47/Hitec 65hb servos, new planes SULtimate and Deluxe  and new awesome Flight Power EvoLight 2S 350mah and EVO20 300mah packs work perfect for both pattern and freestyle!

 Competition format:

This year Carvin was official FAI competition, so pilots require FAI license to participate, this bring allot of discusions, do we need this ore not. In my opinion one thing is for sure if F3P becoming strong official FAI class like F3A ore any other class that have Europe ore World championships, licenses will be necesary for World and Europe championships. But it is not so simply for some countries, situation in Germany is very complicated because there is 3 organizations that are involved in modelling, and getting license is much more complicated than it is in other countries. Because of this problem, no German pilots came to Carvin this year, besides this year one more problem for Carvin competition was late World F3A championship in Argentina, because of this we mis such great pilots as Benoit Dierickx , CPLR and BPLR.

Competition organizers make sure that competition went smooth, nice and with smile on face:)

One thing we like very much is the way how competition time was divide, there was allot of practice time on friday evening and saturday morning. First pattern round start only from 14h, when all pilots had chance atleast make two flights, with such system everybode judges and pilots was prepared better.

Next thing i want to mention is very nice French food:) Lets say organizers make sure no one fell hunger at competition:) Competition was closed with very nice dinner at "La cafeteria Leclercq". So next year if you decide go to Carvin make sure you register earlier since it is very popular competition but unfortunately right now because of lack of time it can accept ~40 pilots for all clases, i hope this can change in future.

Question: What you can do when there is no place near dinner table at saturday evening? Answer: Practice for saturday:)

Planes:

This year most pilots pick monoplanes for both AM and F3P, only few pilots ussed biplanes, (Aito and Saturn). Since equipment getting better/lighter and clean build light monoplanes can have same wingloading as biplanes few years ago, it is better to use monoplanes. For example my this year F3P plane Deluxe RTF weight with Flight power 350mah evo pack is only 148g, (and it is pretty good since plane is quite big ~1m fuselage), and last year F3P biplane Future weight was ~ 175g !!! Two first places in Inter pattern class was taked with Nexus    monoplane from Donuts models , it is very interesting plane designed by Mr. Laurent Lombard. Also there was one M.Muler Manta, new Nicolas Pietu design Mercury.
For freestyle also dominate monoplans, Czech pilots flew last year design Jazz, most French pilots flew Donuts models Fusion ore new Yak 55 . My choice was obvious new SULtimate.

Waiting line.

Very good last year design by David Kyjovsky "Click" was very popular choice for F3P pilots.

Clean build and very nice airbrushed Dutch team Yak from Graupner by Van Gog Jeroen.

Results:

Once again i must say that organizers did awesome job with results, right affter each round pilots get paper with scores each judge gave, also overal round results was shown very fast each time. Here are Aeromusical and Inter pattern results:

Something special:

In such top events you can expect to see something special, this year Carvin was not exception, Mr. Boris Guic from Czech republik FreeAir company bring piece of future technology for giant scale electric planes. HCS C Gigatex 10 000 - 15 000w motor is equivalent to 150cc gas engines, motor with right setup can provide up to 60kg trust, making it perfect for 3m F3M planes !!!

This baby can turn 30x10 prop!!!

Not bad prop size? same as ussual indoor F3P plane wingspan?:)

Boris told they testing this engine on real paragliders, now that is impressive leap forward for model aviation technology!

Just to imagine this motor capabilities, take a look at his little brother HSC-C Gigatex 5000-7000w (100cc gasser equivalent) in action, Jan Spatny 2.6m Krill Katana demo flight in EXFC.
