Lately i was reading nice updated homepages of F3A world champion Christophe and his brother top F3A and indoor pilot Benoit Paisant le Roux and found very interesting model. Small electric aerobatic plane Yuka build by Benoit, that is original designed and flown by Jurgis Kairys , well known in all world because of his crazy flying ! It is very nice to see that two leaders of today big and RC aerobatic join forces and start working together. Here few shoots form BPLR homepage :

 Good looking airplane.

New Yuka in action.

The JUKA name comes from Jurgis Kairys initials as they are pronounced in Lithuanian. The plane is all metal with some composite fairing pieces. It is considerably lighter than the lightest Sukhois. It is still in development and has had subtle changes to the gear (stronger) and tail surfaces (bigger) than when the plane made its hurried debut in Brno, Czech Republic in May 2002.

Finally!!! Weather in Lithuania become better, hot sun and no wind, its so nice to finally enjoy some  outdoor flying. Today me and Vitalijus went to airfield to test new planes, well actually only Vitalijus made real test flight for his new F3A plane Aresti 3 with OS-140, i only test new engine on my good old Showtime.

YS140 was simply to heavy and little to expensive to fly (one flight fuel was ~ 3 eur). Good four stroke engines really are pleasure to fly allot of power quick respond on throttle stick movement and great sound, but YS140 and 90 size plane is not good combination. I had to put rudder servo in tail on pull-push to get right balance... So i decide to change YS with new two stroke OS 120AX. Its perfect size for Showtime, besides two stroke fuel will cost less $, it can run with low ~5-10% nitro and still have great power for 3D flying.

With lighter engine i can pull out rudder servo from tail and put it on Pull Pull in midle of center, also i sold my Hitec servos and replace them with Airtronic 94751, this save me ~80
(rudder HS 5955 ~60g, each Airtronic servo is 10g lighter than old HS with metal gear.  Already in first day of flying i can say this make  different, plane fly lighter and  is more predictable, it don't wan't to fall to spin so badly. Naturaly OS 120 on 5% nitro and 22% oil ( for brake in) can't have same power as YS140 with 15% nitro, but i hope in future with 10% nitro and less oil it will have close performance like YS.

Today each of us made only 3 flights, and it was enough besides sun and RX battery get low, so no point to risk:) Will make more flights next week.
