Painting foamies!!! (Update on 2007-05-16)
Sunday, 13 May 2007
Most people think that for good looking painted foamie you need expencive airbrush and expert skills, i try to show this wrong opinion. Anyone can paint foamie using foam friendly spray cans, stencils and markers. With little patient and few hours of work you can have foamie that will look maybe even better than some airbrush work! Here is some examples ant tips, all planes are painted with spray cans:

I use 400ml "Crafts Spray" cans, each cost ~2.60eur. One problem you will get with such cans, head of bottle, after ~5 paintings become dirty and you can get even layer of paints. To avoid this problem i suggest each time after painting wash head in spirit, also one friend give me good advice, after each painting invert can and spray pressured air from can. Both actions should help keep can heads in good condition for long time.

Using stencils from depron and two colors spray (blue and dark blue) paint cockpit and waved chessboard. It is best/eassier to paint parts like this not assembled. Best way to attach stencils to painting surface is to use thin needles.

First LTF intro: AFPD Katana Hucking !!!
Monday, 30 April 2007

Hello dear visitors, according to small poll (on right side of WP) i see most of you like to see building tips and more videos, so soon i will prepare such material for you.

Now i present you first video from section "Learn to fly" (LTF), in this Intro video you can some Aero Fly Professional Deluxe simulator practice with plane and transmitter in one shoot. This way you can analyse thumbs and plane movement and learn how to make some 3D and pattern maneuvers, i hope it will be useful for some of you. I used same technique (just without thumbs), by analysing TOC, XFC and TAS videos to learn and understand how some impressive maneuvers are done.

Click right mouse button on txt below ore on picture to downlaod video:

Hi resolution version (640x480) , 53mb file.
Hi resolution version (640x480), 53mb file on faster flyinggiants.com server.
Low resolution version (320x240), 30mb file.

In this video i use AFPD plane: Katana 39%. I like how this plane fly, i made some small changes so it have little more power and more movement on all surfaces, so probably it fly little different from real plane:) Anyway i like this AFPD plane alot, its gread for precision practice and deffinately one of the best trainer for 3D, so here you go, enjoy:

Katana 3m Zip file for AFPD, 547kb file.

Unzip and place plane folder to C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe\aircraft ore other location where you installed your simulator.

I use:

For Imac/Pattern 100% travel:

Aileron 30% expo.

Rudder 20% expo.

Elevator 25% expo.

For 3D all surfaces 120% movement on TX, and + ~10% more expo.

Katana is great giant scale aerobatic plane it is designed by well known TOC pilot from Itali S.Silvestri and now is produced by Krill models, we saw it live in this February in Belgium, 3D college indoor event at Aerobertics.be shop , must say this is top quality composite plane, finish is brilliant and price close to some wooden 33-39% kits...

Me and 33% yellow version Katana in 3D college indoor event, 2007 Feb.

Ricardas Siumbrys and 28% Seba scheme, 50cc Katana.

Here is few video examples of 3m version in use:
